Anyone have any good tricks for getting sticky baked on tape residue off of an old acrylic tank without damaging the acrylic. I'm guessing it was on there for years before I got the tank.

Goo-gone? Not sure it's affect on acrylic, but you might have to rebuff that section.

a little bit of denatured alcohol....but it can cause stressed acrylic to craze, try it in an inconspicuous place first

I use break cleaner at my shop for sticky residue, amazingly strong.

I love brake cleaner, but I don't know if I'd want to use it on a 10 year old 300 gallon tank. Its a little to powerful. I've tried everything I trust on acrylic that I have around here. Might have to keep rummaging.

The citrus based goo-gone will work good. just soak it or possibly put some on a paper towel and let it sit for a couple of days. it will come off eventually. With the acrylic that old and you obviously are keeping the tank then give it some time with the goo gone. I got some 40 year old duct tape off of a 68 roadrunner plastic steering column with just a little patience.

Goof-Off, it's a plastics and acrylic safe goo cleaner. I use it for getting sticky stuff off computer parts. I haven't had it haze anything yet, it does take some rubbing to get the oily sheen off and you want to make sure to have good ventilation, it stinks.

Lacquer Thinner works well.
