Help me design my overflows.

I have a 280g tank that I want to have approx 1500-1700gph of flow through the sump on.

My tank is glass, so I can't change the current holes in the overflows.

There is one 2-5/8" hole in each overflow...basically sized for a 1.5" HD (Schedule 80) bulkhead.

I just read the thread on the Hofer Gurgle Buster...looks pretty good.

What would anyone suggest?

Also, would it help to use 2" pipe before or after the bulkhead to maximize flow even though the bulkhead is limited to 1 -1/2"?

I want to minimize micro-bubbles too.
