im setting up a 50 gallon acrylic tank with a sump and a tied in 7.5 gallon cube tank. which one should i chose. idk what type of chromis but i do like the feeling of a large school + i can add comunity fish like my clowns. i plan to have a reef with SPS LPS and everything else! clams ect, you name it, i want it XD

i will go for option 2 if all the 3 are frozen train
in fact i tried but failed badly
my snowflake escaped after a week
lionfish died of cloudy eye after 2 months
frogfish, only accept live food, now in my sump tank as it is easier to feed it
good luck

Niether of the two choices are good. The second, the Snowflake gets too large, the frogfish will likely consume the fu manchu once he gets large enough, and the fu manchu will likely never be converted to frozen.
The first option sounds like the bioload will be a little heavy, certainly for "any coral." And really? Dwarf tang? There is no such thing. Please don't con yourself into thinking a tang would fit into that tank.

imo a snowflake(echidna nebulosa) can go in a 50 if there is adequate filtration. Read up and see about the frog fish devouring your fu manchu.

ps. Manchu's are supposed to be hard to keep and don't ship well.

A fuzzy dwarf lion is a better choice, but none of your options are great choices for a reef tank.
You have 3 clowns? In the same tank? That generally doesn't work, especially in a 50 gallon, once they mature the pair will often kill the remaining clown. They are very territorial!
Predator fish create a lot of waste and make it hard to keep the water nice and clean, which is what SPS corals seem to prefer. They also eliminate the possiblity of having a clean up crew of snails and shrimp, because the predators eat them.
Of your choices, the clowns/gobies/chromis combo is probably the best, you could get a nice wrasse instead of the chromis too.

You'd be wasting your time with a group of chromis in that small of a tank. People forget that chromis are damsels. Unless you have them in a large tank, with other large active fish that force them to school you will wind up with only one dominant chromis in a few months. That one will have killed all of the others.

I have a 55g with 3 fish right now.. Betta, Grama, and Lawnmower Blenny.
I plan to add a pair of clowns, and maybe a coral beauty at somet point. That's it. 6 - 8 fish at most.
I don't agree with the choices selected. Sounds like trouble to me.

when i said dwarf tang i meant dwarf angel (it was late). if you guys believe neither will work then i wont do it, but i do like suggestions.

if the frogfish will eat the fu man chu, i would not have the frogfish, they kinda just sit around. i really like the snowflake though, so any tank mates that will work would be great!

good article. About the only thing that can't go with them are large fish that will pick on them or small fish that linger in front of them too long. Can't do crabs or shrimps either since they'll eat them, but there are a myriad of fish that will work fine. Dwarf angels of about any kind will work. http://www.wetwebmedia.com/marine/fishes/angels/centropyge/index.htm

great reads! my fish store gets in ORA fu man chu's and they eat frozen food already. he can hold it for up to 2 weeks to make sure its eating well and there are no visable infections. i still dont know what kind of dwarf angel i like, but i do like the golden ones and bicolors.
so how bout this?:
fu man chu
snowflake eel
golden angel
bicolor angel
does this work?

I wouldn't have 2 dwarf angels in that small of a tank.

For your tank, I would suggest.
- 2 clowns
- 4 chromis
- 1 blenny (they have a lot of character)
- 1 dwarf angel if you really want it.
and a really good skimmer if you want to keep sps too.
