I got home from work yesterday and my peppermint shrimp was acting odd.

He was actually out on the rock during the day and a couple of his legs we just working non-stop.

I've never seen him out during the day.

I checked the tank with a flashlight at night and saw several snails piled up on what appeared to be a peppermint shrimp carcass. I could see very long red antenna, but the shell was translucent although I could see the faint candy stipe pattern.

I looked around the tank and couldn't find the shrimp.

So..the question is..was he murdered or did he molt?

It has most likely molted, i have two cleaner shrimp that molt about once a month, and make millions of fri off-spring. There old shell was usaly left as just a few bits and pices by morning. But i guess the only true proof of its demise is to try and spot it at night. Good luck, keep me posted.
