Bet you'd have a hard time getting responses with any size tank. :rolleyes: Not all fish are going to get the max size of the species even in the wild, and it's not as likely in captivity whether you have a 75g or a 180g. Zebrasomas especially have been observed to have slower growth in captivity. You're focusing on one issue with some tank sizes when the same is true for tanks that can be much larger.

Which is why I responded as I did. You won't likely find max size zebrasoma tangs in bigger tanks either, so your argument is a bit lacking.

Well, if you are trying to be a troll, that probably won't go over real well. Do you think we (on the board) are trying to be mean? What value would that have for any of us? We all have real lives, most of us have tanks, and we spend some amount of time trying to save posters heart ache and money. So, your problem with us is exactly what?

However, I believe the unit by which the op is measuring their suitability (reaching max size) is flawed and does not help the point. Asking it in this fashion is not helpful either.

My [profanity] point here is that everyone on this [profanity] board wants to put big fish in tiny tanks, so when I ask for simple proof of someone with a large tang in a small tank...I GET NONE! Making a point to people that want to put these big fish in small tanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong but judging by the original post, there's a bit of sarcasm. Therefore its obvious a zebrasoma should not be kept in a 4ft tank, even though many sites state its OK. I think this is where the problem lies. Almost every site will say that a minimum tank size for say a yellow tang is approximately 70g. We all know this isn't true, but when we say minimum 6ft 125g we look like the crazy bad guys. Its unfortunate, were fighting against most of the retailers on this, not with each other. Due to a business stand point, not many fish would be sold if the "correct" tank requirements were stated.

I hang in the lounge usually. I see your sarcasm but you don't need to use abbreviated profanity to make your point. If someone does post a pic, are you gonna beat on them for their error?

I think this could be a great thread idea.

Many LFS's will have juvenile tangs, triggers, batfish, parrotfish, etc. And few, or no adult fish, for comparison.

Newcomers buy these cute fish without knowing the facts, or convince themselves that there's no way this little fish will grow beyond the capacity of their system.

If fed properly, the above fish will quickly outgrow many/most tanks, fight and kill tankmates, live with stress, and in many cases die. Often 5 or 10 years sooner than their life expectancy.

Seeing actual photos of systems with obviously poor choices could help educate others, and prevent them from making similar decisions.

It could also help prevent people from buying "just one more fish", knowing that some of their current inhabitants are destined to grow significantly larger.
