In a few months, I will be upgrading my 15g tank to a 24g nano cube and am looking at some options to upgrade my flow. In the 15g I only have a Koralia 1 and will want more flow in the new tank. Looking at my options, I was thinking a pair of Koralia nanos or should I just spend the money and get an MP10?

Seeing as how my tank is LPS dominated and will most likely always be, is an MP10 a good choice? Will it be too much flow?

If you use an MP10 (or any ecotech powerhead) what are your thoughts?

I am currently using two MP10wEs in my 150G and love them. Previously I was using an old version MP10 in my Oceanic 30G cube and thought it was great - I had it turned down so it wouldn't blow everythig around. I personally really like the Ecotech products, you can certainly do things cheaper, but the variety offered by the MP10 is worth it IMHO.

are the mp10 adjustable on the thickness? I have a 60 cube with 1/2" thickness and was wondering the same thing about getting one for added flow?

vortech's adjustable speed and random modes worth the price imo.

I have my mp10 on 3/8" glass. 1/2" might be pushing it but probably possible with tie wrap and adhesive cord mounting base.

But are they worth it if all you're keeping are LPS? Would it be too much flow for them?

Yeah the random flow modes are great and you can dial it down a little if you think the flow is too much.

I am running one mp10 on my 36x18x18 mixed reef and I am going to add another.

The vortech also eliminates the need to buy extra timers or controllers. Plus the power/dry end is out of the water and small wet side is more aesthetically pleasing than other brands.

Have I convinced you? :D

How is the noise level with the mp10s? My tank is right near my bed and im worried that after spending $200 it will be to noisy and will have to get rid of it

I have 2 MP10W es........Love them the control you get over the flow in your tank cannot be compared....The new ES controllers are even better then the old ones.

Yeah it would be annoying imo. But you can program it for night mode which is 50% of daytime power and at a constant speed. This way you won't hear winding up and down all night.

I have them on Ecosmart Tidal Surge but you have to have the W-es controllers......One is a slave as well.....I don't have any noise coming from mine that I could consider annoying. Lagoon was my fav for the normal controllers. I have a mix of safety and LPS and they all love it, I had a MP20 standard controller and couldn't turn it up past 30-40% due to excessive flow so I went MP10 and haven't looked back.....Although I am thinking of trying a low current wave and see what happens with the corals.....
