Well I dont know if the spur happened last night, little overflow from the protein skimmer:hmm3: but it caused my pump to heat up quite a bit of the water. This morning a wake up and notice a neon green algae forming on many if not all of the rock I have. Pics to follow

This last pic I saw in the back, look like those little hairs are growing

So of course the priority is how do i treat this? I read around and stuff and some people say neon green algae could be coraline, but i dont feel confident in this case. Any input you have would be great, any chemicals/animals i should add would be great as well. Thanks reefers!

You could chip a little piece of it off the rock. If it's coralline, it should bubble and dissolve in vinegar. If it feels soft or has much of a structure, it's more likely just a normal algal bloom. If the tank is very new, I wouldn't worry much. Is anything being fed into the system?

RIght now, nothing special, just Iodine doses. Tank has been setup for about three months now. Not really stocked with much, just a coral and damsel. Should I start adding anything particular? Should I treat this somehow?

Are you feeding the damsel? If so, how much and how often?

I might take a sample and try the vinegar or touch test. The alga probably can be ignored, in the end, but overfeeding always is an issue.

Ya I try to just feed a little bit, id say a little more than like an inch by inch total...

Okay, I wouldn't worry too much for now.
