Hey guys. Got a 34 gal redseamax and set it up about a week ago. The previous owner gave me his water, live rock, and sand. Looks like my tank is losing a good amount of water. I know I have to do a "top off". I would say, if your looking from the outside, the water level is about a half an inch below where the top of the tank meets the glass. I went out and got a bunch of Poland Spring distilled water. My question is, is it okay to add a gallon at one time, for the top off? Is that way too much? How much should i add? I ordered a refractometer but won't be getting that for a couple days. Thanks.

Just fill it back up. If you had fish, they don't react well to sudden salinity changes. Without fish you can make pretty drastic changes without worry.

All I have in there is a couple coral frags, maybe 3, and that's it. So your saying it's okay to add a full gallon of distilled?

I would just fill it back up where it the water level usually is. With that being said, without fish you'd probably be alright to add a gallon. I've added a half gallon to my 14 gallon tank when I knew I'd be away for the weekend with no issues and I have fish.
