My research continues on Corals but I'm a little overwhelmed. Can anyone make any suggestions? I like Brain Corals but others have suggested Candy Cane. The tank has almost hit the 4 week mark so I think at very least I'll need to wait several more weeks before adding Corals.

Any website, books, or resource suggestions?

Thanks,

First look at what your tank can handle. What size tank, lighting, amount of flow, skimmer. Go to a nice lfs. Take a look around, and write down what you like. Do some research on those items. Look at all the sponsors websites and window shop. Liveaquaria.com has a good selection and is broken down well.

As long as it's not an SPS, get what you like as a first coral. Candy canes are easy, so are zoas, mushrooms, star polyps.

also have to recommend Aquarium Corals by Eric Borneman. Excellent addition to your library and lots of info to help in your decision making. To answer your question it would help to know some details about your system - tank/sump sizes, lighting, skimmer, amount of flow in the tank, etc. and/or how willing you are to adjust things to fit what you'd like to do. Think through things carefully and thoroughly to avoid mistakes and wasted $$. If you're planning a reef, think in terms of soft corals, SPS or possibly mixed - but the latter is a challenge as the different corals have somewhat different needs as to light, flow, nutrient levels, etc. not to mention aggression. In this hobby patience is something you can't have too much of.

Ok, did your research provide you with the info you need to care for them and is your system set up for these corals? Big fan of brains myself.

Big fan of brains myself.

Me too, they let me think and stuffs. :lolspin:

My favorite brains are both types, the neon with black ones look awesome under the right light. Some of the soft brains look really cool (welso, open, not sure the real name of them).

I would start with an inexpensive coral first to test the "waters"!
