What is the best return pump for a 210 gallon tank? What is the most efficient and cost effective when it comes to power? My tank will be a dominate SPS tank. So curious what people are using for maximum flow and turnover. Please let me know what you run. Thanks.
a return pump isnt the best idea for tank flow, its ment more for returning sump/fuge water back to the tank.
generaly a good return pump will provide roughly 400gpm flow, any higher and you will have to have a huge sump. [take into account hight to adjust for head pressure]
for flow in the tank you want powerheads like vortech, koralia, ect ect, or a closed loop.

Outy sorry for the confusion I meant water turnover I was thinking the mag drive 1800 but know they really consume power so was curious if there were other brands similiar to mag but more efficient. I will be getting two mp40s for flow within the tank. Thanks for your input so far though.
with two mp40's you dont need a 18 if its a sump under tank a 9.5 is more in line with what your looking for

mag 18 would be a good workhorse...

I wouldn't use a Mag18. Too much power and heat, and more flow than you need from a return pump. The new Water Blaster pumps are getting good reviews if you want a submersible. I think the 5000 would work well.

Thanks guys for all your replies so far. I forgot to mention that I have a custom sump that could hold about a 100 gallons but will only have about 40 gallons when I set the 210 up. And yes return pump will be submersible.

This one looks like a candidate. 1320 GPH and 86 watts.
Although it might be light on GPH depending on your head pressure...

im running 1000gph and its way to much flow for a 50g sump
not sure how you guys deal with anything over 500-600

Check out the wattage on the Water Blaster pumps.
HY-3000W 792GPH / 38W
HY-5000W 1373GPH / 60W
I'm with outy. No need for a ton of return flow anyway.

I have a mag 1200. So you think that will be plenty?

Just realized your 120 AGA has two overflows...are they the same size as the ones on your 210 AGA?

I would go with the laguna max-flo pumps. I will be using one on my 220. They are very efficient and great price. They are a submersible pump.

The 2200 is at 32w.
