I've recently set up a custom reef tank and my temps range 3 degrees from 78.8 to 81.5 and salinity ranges from 33.1 ppt to 34.0 ppt ... The reason is that we've had some heat waves pass by my area and my window AC has been running on off cooling the ambient air temp and ultimatly the tank temps. Is it more important to keep the temps low or is it more important to have smaller fluctuation in temp... like one degree instead of 3?

Due to my tank design since its rimless it evaporates a great deal of water and is very exposed to the room conditions. I don't think a chiller is the answer as I can not hook one up remotely so any chiller in the room will heat the room and can't have that. thanks for any suggestions and help.
