skimmer issue

I just got mt skimmer giong and after 12 hours of running ive noticed the bubbles arent making it all the way to the top? My understanding is that the bubbles are suppose to make it to the top and after popping release gunk in that lid that i can remove. But the foam/bubbles arent making it that high. Does it take a few days of running to do so? it only took a few mins for the column of foam to get to where its at. thaks guys

you will need to raise the water level in your skimmer, but skimmers do have a break in period to get rid of the oils and such from the manufacture

what do you mean by break?

break as in break-in. The skimmers don't run at 100% right out of the box due to oils from being built still on the skimmer material. This is normal and happens on all skimmers. Just give it up to a week and you will see improvement each day.

My skimmer took about 3 days before i began to see any sort of skim in the cup. The other thing that may cause the lack of bubbles, is if its a new setup, when you feed, and even stick your meet hooks(hands) in the tank. When that thing gets going you will see some sick stuff.

so basically are you saying that im not producing enough waste? it is a fairly new set up
