Ok I have a sps reef that's approx 220 gallons and a 50 sump. I just tested for the first time since setting it up and I have 12dkh and 500ca with API test kits. I use kalk as a supplemnt. I use it every other day with kalk and regular ro water for top off. So I don't use limewater each day because I have small sps frags and colonies, nothing big. I tested my buddies who uses the same method as I do with the exact same results. Are we using too much kalk or what? Does the high dkh need to be addressed or will it fix itself without adding more limewater. Thanks for the info. I am not used to adding this way so it's new to me. I ran a reactor with my old big tank. Thanks Kevin

I know a guy that runs a 10000g coral farm and he said he keeps his alk at 12 with out any problems.

Most tanks are fine with high dKH, but you could let it drift down if you want. Just back off on the kalk a bit. :) Some people who run ULNS systems seem to have problems with the dKH above 7-8 or so.
