adding a 5Gl fuge and a 10Gl sump to a 150Gl tank?
makes sense or just too small for any good?

5g for a fug seems a little small for your total tank volume...i think a fug should be ~10% of total volume...but maybe i'm off on that assumption...but it would have to help some

worthless. Way too small to have any real benefit on your system.

Think purpose first. The fuge is for growing macro, or potentially having additional biological filtration. The bigger the better. On a 150, 5 gallons is nowhere near enough space to grow any macro which would export enough to make an impact.

A sump is really just for adding water volume and housing things you don't want in the display like additional biological filtration, skimmer, heaters, probes, dosing, etc. 10G on your 150 is again relatively useless.

If I had your 150, I'd be looking at 40-60 gallons at least for sump/fuge.

Problem I see is the drainback from a power outage. If your display drains even 1/2", you'd likely overflow the sump/fuge. Really need to go with a larger sump. Taller is ok, as that's where you can gain the room for drainback, if that makes any sense.
