Do I need to feed the small clams anything?

I plan to keep these either in a separate prop tank or a prop tank run off my main 180g. IMO, the larger clams in a mixed reef get enough in the way of nitrates/ammonium compounds cause they are large enough and in the right spot to get enough usable light.

But, in clam aquaculture facilities I have heard they add ammonium and nitrate compounds to help baby clams grow. The problems I have had with Tridacnids are only if they are small, under 2-2.5''.

I know to acclimate them gently with any strong lighting. And to make sure to check for any snails and worms.

fish waste is plenty of food for any size clam, as long as you have enough good light. supplementary feeding in a tank with inhabitants that produce waste is not necessary. latest research. main clam expert james fatheree agrees
