difference in corals from dosing to reactor?

Don't know if it is related or something else entirely, but some of my chalices and some LPS seemed stressed with the change (some of my chalices really looked bad with some recession, others are OK) after I switched from dosing to putting my Ca reactor online. What is the best Kh value to dial it into? Currently it is 9.6. Before I had it adjusted it went slowly to 10.3 but it's been stable now.

Is there something about Ca reactors that is different than 2 part dosing (BRS recipe) that would cause the stress? My reactor is a 2 chamber one.

How are you measuring kH down to the decimal point? I accidentally took my alk all of the way up to 16 once and it didn't appear to hurt anything. I realize that doesn't help you very much, but I'm really curious about your kH measurement method.

Sailfert test kit, they do the drops with a syringe that you go by a chart. I really like the control of their Alk kits.

Yeah I have heard it can be a nervous time when switching over and if you had never had one before. If you were super stable before and they weren't used to an alk change, they could just be way upset by that 10.3 spike. I would aim for the middle, just to give yourself some wiggle room.

I used the Lamotte kits for their precision.... .1 dkh if I recall. Really good kit.

tina when i went from dosing with b-ionic to the calcium reactor,i never noticed any differance,are you sure that you other perimeters are ok,did you just change out your bulbs,my chalices had an issue with my bulbs,when i changed from 20k to 14k....lost a little color in a few....just my opinion.....mike
