I am looking at purchasing a rugged P&S camera. I have narrowed it down to either the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2, or the Canon PowerShot D10. I really prefer the size of the Panasonic and the higher video quality, but I am still torn. Does anyone have any first hand experience with them?

what do you intend to do with them? most "underwater" cameras are only good to like 10 ft depth. if you plan on taking a camera scuba diving or snorkelling, you'll likely go well beyond that depth, in which case you need an underwater housing.

Both of the ones I listed are for 33 feet. I don't plan on going scuba diving, but snorkeling is in my future. I mainly want a camera that can take some abuse is small enough to fit in a pocket. I do a lot of outdoor activities and I hate lugging my SLR with me and worry about it getting damaged.

You are right that Panasonic will give to the best graphic quality but Canon will work for you long time.

Does the Panasonic have issues with long term use? I have read a lot of review, but didn't find any issues.

Would I have better luck in the snorkeling forum? I wasn't sure which one would be best.

I have the olympus tough and it takes great underwater macro shots. It holds up to abuse as well. I bought it so I could take it skiing but it had the added benefit of being waterproof.
