I read that some wrasse like to sleep in the sand, do fairy wrasse need this? I want to get a Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus solorensis), but I am going to have a bare bottom tank.

People have gotten small boxes of sand for them to sleep in.

I believe so. They hide in sand when they are afraid. What kind of Fairy were you interested? They are so cool...

I have sand, and had a solarensis. I never saw him sleep in the sand, he had a regular spot in a hole in my rockwork that he slept in.

I was thinking of a Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse . I could put a tray of sand in the back for him but am not sure.

The fairy wrasse group typically does not sleep in the sand. Some other types of wrasses do. The one you are interested in doesn't need a SB.

Yes, fairy wrasses of the genus Cirrhilabrus do not sleep in the sand. They generally will find a nice little crevice in your live rock. No worries here without a sand bed.
