Acan lighting

How much is too much, running a mixed reef w/ 6x24 sunpower and being told this maybe too much light but I see people running LED's that are putting out more PAR than my sunpower. Trying to get a better color on rainbow acan I also see alot of people using LED to supplement T-5 or T-5 to supplement MH, that alone should put light thru the roof. Are LPS & SPS on both ends of the light range?

Well, I have a 56/57g tank (36x18x22) with 6x39w bulbs and I keep my acans on the sand bed and they are happy as a pig in mud. They fully expand during the day, have their feeders out at night and are even growing quickly with only a small weekly coral accell tank feeding and whatever else it can catch on it's own in the water column.

How is the color and what bulbs are you using. I am currently using super actinic , fiji purple, Blue+,act white, blue+, blue+. It has been recomended to add a blue LED strip.

My current bulb selection is:

- Actinic+ = 22000k
- AquaBlue+ - 15000k
- UVL Actinic White
- UVL 75/25
- AquaBlue+ - 15000k
- Actinic+ - 22000k

Do you have any rainbow colored acan? Seems mine go brown, purple & green.

acans dont require very much light but can be acclimated to bright light if done very slowly .basically they like low water flow and moderate to low light .if you get them under bright light they require more feeding and some small tricks to their cleansing of bacteria from their waste .easily done but something that really will help them survive if they are under brighter lighting .
they are better off with less light IMO.

Hard to tell what low light is without a light meter or a # for reference. I see alot of LED systems putting out a ton of light with mixed LPS's. I have a 24' fixture over a 36" tank so hoping the outer edge is enough shade. Thanks for info
