So I have 4' long 120g tank and I am thinking about purchasing one MP40 ES.

It will be replacing 2 Koralia 3s, but I do plan on keeping 2 Koralia Evo 1400.

Now would addition of just one MP40 be enough in 120g to create good random flow along side with two KE1400 to be worth spending $440 >.>

Other question what would be the best way to place those 3 powerheads? I was thinking KE1400s on sides blowing at each other and MP40 on back wall? Though I do see vortechs usually blowing sideways not back to front.

Thanks!

What are the dimensions? I know 4' long, but how wide. The MP40 will blow the 4 feet, so I don't think the back is a good place for it. MP10s are good for back walls (well at least up to 2 feet).

I would say the 1400s on opposite sides, and the Vortech sharing one of the sides. You can always dial the Vortech down.

It's just normal 120g 48x24x24. And yeah I didn't think that the back wall would be the best place for it, guess just have to figure out 1400s placement.

How would MP40 perform in 120g by itself though? Would it cover the whole thing well enough on its own? Of course there will be 1400s to help as well.

Michael,

You would certainly have some dead spots with just one MP40 alone in a tank that size, however you might be ok if you have some 1400s along with it.
