I was at the beach today and the pier was covered in barnacles and baby mussels so I scraped some off of the pier and brought them home hoping that I could replenish my refugium with pods and the small critters they might harbor. When I got back home I found a small crab which I isolated in a small cup and was wondering if there was any benefit from adding the barnacles and baby mussels to my refugium or if there is a way to get whatever beneficial organisms from them without introducing any unwanted hitchhikers into my system.

Will not survive unless you have constant supply of phytoplankton.

Any chance of getting some useful pods from them ?

It is more likely they will eat any you already have.
Not worth the risk of introducing parasites or something to your system.
