What is this...

Bought a piece of live rock the other day to help seed and spread onto the dry rock that i have. today i noticed all this "white fuzz" on the live rock. I think some of was there before but it has definitely spread.

The tank is about a month and a half old but all parameters are great

PH- 8.3
Nitrate - almost 0
Nitrite - 0
Ammonia- 0
SG - 1.023ish

Quick question.. do you plan on keeping coral? Even if not.. IMO, your salinity is too low. it should be up around 1.025-.026.. JMO

By looking closer to the rock.. it could be a sponge starting to grow.. but it looks more fungal. Can you describe it better? Is it hard? Does it rub off easily? Where did you get the LR from?
Also.. here we love to hear all about your tank :D
Size? Alk? Calc? What kinda tank? All the goodies!!

the stuff is hard and will not scrape off the rock. I bought the LR from my LFS. not quite sure how else to describe it but will definately answer questions
