does anyone know the effect of running a black light on your tank at night?....

I had a tank that ran LW UV (pretty much just black lights) during the day to show how some corals fluoresce, and then ran metal halides at night so the corals would thrive. I never saw any negative effect. That said, I tried the same UV lights with Pandinus scorpions and found that after a few weeks, they stopped glowing (so the light was changing them in some fundamental way).

The black light will effect the eyes of your fish, it can make them go blind, from what I've read.
