Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to this community. Well, here is my problem. I was gone for a couple of weeks for work and when I came baback home I noticed my daughter was playing with the magnetic glass cleaner and it seems while doing it she picked some sand grains. She ended up causing scratches on different areas of the tank (mine is a 55 gal). Is there a product/way to fix them or should I just forget about them and just get me a new tank?. Thanks for any response.

You are stuck with them :(. I like that you are able to somehow parlay a couple minor scratches into the need for a whole new tank, no doubt a larger one :).

Good luck with your scratches. I've got a few that need to be buffed out too

No, you can buff them out but its more work than acrylic... and you have to be extremely careful not to dimple the glass and create a magnifying glass or distortion. It took 2 days to completely do the 6x2 bowfront panel, with LOTS of beer breaks in between. We used a kit, "Janvil glass revive" which cost about 100$ and includes everything, even a book about buffing glass!

As long as you cant feel them with a fingernail, you can prob remove them.... And it turned out great FAR better than when we started.

Well, seems like I better get myself a new 55. Thanks for all the replies.
Skunkbudfour20, I just think that the extra work involved plus the cost of such glass scratch repair kit is not worth it, at least compared to the price on a tank like mine. Thanks anyways.
