does anyone know how much spread these have? On a 60" tank can two suffice w/ lower light on the edges or will 3 be needed. Since these are similiar in intensity to 400w MH's can i go up say 10" from water and get good spread. These have 8 banks of 3-3w LED's

Or do I need 3? also what height should these be?

What about the coralvue modular LEDS's could i get like 4-5 of these and get enough light and spread? these have 4 banks of 3-3w LED's
These are the ones im talking about:

I have a 60" x 36" x 30" high tank that I want to upgrade to LEDs as well. I think with the AI they recommend 1 every foot...so that would be 5...but that's the manufacturer...I know they are quite powerful, perhaps three would work...but I'd be interested in hearing other people's feedback....I don't know anything about the Coralvue LEDs

From what I seen, the AI...are some serious PAR mongers....I would do 3 at most on my 60L tank. But that is about $1700.

a few other options I really like are:

Say 4 of the above coral vue.....Basically these have half the LEDS as the AI. Not sure if they have all the features of the AI? ~$1300

3 of these....http://reefkoi.com/coral/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8&products_id=840

very basic and cheap. only $900..but many say only need 2 on a 60l tank....

then the maxspect g2 are supposedly another option.....2-3 $1200-$1800needed here?

Again comes down to spread features and cost.....

I went from 2 250W halides (14K) + 2 VHO's to 5 AI LEDs in my 90gal. The AI's are very bight, but also very focused. They definietly have a spotlight effect. I bought one extra than recommended (4ft tank) to spread it out a bit and still have some spotlighting issues.

Mine are about 6" from the water. The low heat (why I bought them) and low power is great, but I think I prefer the halide look and distribution better.

I don't know anything about the Coralife LED's. Hope this helps.

Im posting it because it goes over this type of question. I have 4x AI sol blue on my 90g. There are vids and pics. Also the lights are only as powerful as a 400w HQI in the middle of the light spread.
