I have the chance to purchase yet another GEO skimmer. I am torn between 2 of them and need some help deciding on one. Please feel free to throw out your input. It will be going on a 220 gallon tank with a 40 gallon sump. I currently run a GEO Becket Skimmer rated for 400 gallons but want a skimmer that does not require a pressur rated pump due to the additional electrical usage it needs. The price diff. between the 2 skimmers are $150 bucks. Here are the 2 skimmers...

Skimmer "A"
GEO Re-Circ
12" Width x 48" Height Reaction Chamber
Sequence Dart Re-Circ Pump W/Meshmod
Altia 60 Air Pump

Skimmer "B"
GEO Re-Circ
8" Width x 56" Height Reaction Chamber
Dual Oceanrunner 3500 Re-Circ Pumps

Honestly, I wouldn't get either. They are both way bigger than a system of that size needs.

Oh i do agree that are overkill but down the road I will have 600 gallons of water, sort of planning ahead and hard to pass up a sweet deal.

I also would do the Dart powered skimmer..... some state mesh doesn't hold up so you could always throw a NW on there w/o the mesh.

I am about to get a similar sized skimmer for my 475g FO, 12 x 48 with a Dart NW. I like having the external pump due to low maintenance vs the other pumps that need cleaned every few months. Also replacement darts are easy to find & pretty cheap.

It is overkill but good to plan ahead :)

Are the skimmers new?
