I have a 150g glass tank (5x2x2). It is drilled and I want to make an acrylic overflow for it. How thick should the acrylic be? I have read that Krylon spray paint is reef safe, is this true?
Thanks

1/4" will be plenty for thickness, krylon works just fine in or out of the water

1/4" is strong enough to hold back 150g of water? It is an in tank overflow.

Typically the water level inside the overflow is only an inch or two lower than the water level in the main tank, meaning that there isn't much of a pressure differential that the overflow has to withstand. If you're really concerned, just go to a thicker material - in the sizes you need it'll only be a few bucks difference.

Rather than painting the acrylic, why not just buy in the color you want? Less work, less cost (you don't have to buy paint), and it'll probably look nicer than a rattle-can paint job. If you must paint, Krylon Fusion is definitely "safe" and it sticks well to plastic.
