View Full Version : individual LED heat sinks?

can anyone point me in a direction to find individual heat sinks for LED's?
I can find plenty of large heatsinks that can be used for LED arrays, but I'm going to be using 6 LED's in a row spaced about 8" apart to add shimmer to the tank. I suspect I'll mount the LED's on an aluminum bar and maybe that's all I need given the spacing
thanks

Correct, just use U-channel aluminum stock (ie 3/4" or 1" or etc). At that distance, it should be no problem.

Here's a thread for you:

But I agree, just use U-channel if you can fit it in your fixture.

I used the individual heat sinks from Rapidled, here they are in my Current USA reflector before reassembling the light with PC's

Very nice! I also have one of those fixtures, like new, and was wondering how it would look being retrofitted. I just might hold onto it now.

4-40 machine screws go perfectly between the fins of the heatsinks. All you have to do is drill holes in the aluminum. Also, it is a U channel aluminum. I wouldn't use tubular, because it will trap heat inside.
