Nope 1 40 is much better IMO...you have so much more flexibility. Once you get your first one be prepared though because your going to want another for the other side. You can turn the 40s down so they aren't pushing full blast, but its nice having them work together from each side of the tank.

i was also looking at the new koralias 750s if i would go with 4($31.99each) on the red sea wave maker($150)... do you think this would be good random flow like the vortech mp40($450)??

i had that same size tank setup not to long ago and put 2 mp40s in it and i could not run the pumps at 100% without blowing all the sand around or knocking rocks over. i ran mine at about 50% and it was plenty.

I have a 60 cube, and the MP40 provides exceptional coverage for the entire tank at about 50% power.

I'd much rather run 1 MP40 at half power than 1 MP20 at full power or multiple other pumps.

i was also looking at the new koralias 750s if i would go with 4

Really, what do you want to look at in your tank? Hardware or corals/rock/fish? 4 pumps when you could simply have one is not something I'd choose to do personally.
