I just received a 40 gallon tank from a friend and it is drilled with a bulk head, I want to use this as a sump but do not know what to do with the hole and bulk head. Could I run some pvc to a mag 7 and use a submersible mag 7 as an external pump? Would this work? Or should I just plug it? Thank you!

Very easy to plug, just screw a cap on if threaded, or glue a cap.

Basically what I did. Sump had a bulkhead that would accept a PVC MPT adapter, then a PVC MPT coupling to the Mag. Worked fine.

It is simple. Just get a bulkhead with a MPT center, then a PVC MPT coupling, then a PVC union (has two FPT ends)(forgot that piece in the response above), then another PVC MPT coupling. The union makes it possible to take off the pump for service without having to tear down your plumbing.

No, the tank is currently down. This is the same setup however I will have on the new tank.
