i have a 30gal zero edge and planning to throw a octopus cone skimmer in the sump.. the skimmer is rated up to 400gal!! and was wonderin if that would benifit my reef tank or would it jus harm it..

Good rule of thumb... never go off what the skimmer website says it is rated for. Most of the time (not all but most) it is way overstated. I would run it myself if I was you.

need to post up what kind model. ive used octopus was a great skimmer. id rather over skim then under skim in my opinion.
