Has anyone had any difference in results when first using local dow and mag products and then switching to BRS products for 2 part dosing?
Just wondering if there is a big difference in results or not.
Thanks,
Doug

ive been running dow flakes for over 5 years with no ill effects, no reason to pay more.

No one else has switched or have switched with no difference? I have been running them for about 1 1/2 years and don't seem to have any problems but was wondering if things could be even better with the other stuff even though it is a lot more expensive.

Doug

from what i understand calcium chloride is calcium chloride, you wont get any better BUT when you buy BRS your supposed to be assured of getting a product without impurities.

since dow is food grade I believe it to be clean enough for my aquarium

I haven't heard of any issues. The old Dow Flake had some useful extra ingredients, but the BRS seems to be fine.

The only issue I have heard is that the brs mix is very clean as the other has a colored residue when mixed.

I think that's true, too. :)

Doug864, I'm in central florida, where do you find Dow Flake? I use the BRS because I haven't found the "off the shelf" Mg Cloride.

There is a company right near you. I think it is all 50lb bags of this stuff. I'll have to find the name and address.
Really cheap compared to brs. I wouldn't mind paying more if there was a big difference or benifits but it looks like there isn't any.
