Well I had to tear down my 90 a while back and I miss it just to much. I am getting a 40 and will not get as complex as before.
I am planning on using mh and T5 lighting, a HOB fuge and skimmer and K3,s and one K4 for movement.
One question here, What would be a good HOB skimmer. I looked at one but it require completley tearing it apart to clean it.
Thank you, Shaun

If you want to go cheap, AquaC Remora; more expensive, Tunze; expensive, Deltec.

Also take a look at Octopus skimmers, though I think a Tunze is a bit better from what I have read.

This for me is kinda like getting back to the basics. I had a 90 mixed reef with a dozen or more fish and almost 100 dofferent corals. Big sump, big skimmer calcium reactor reef controler. Just started to get to complicated and expensive. I just want a few nice looking corals, a nem ( I love the nems) a couple clowns and some small colorfull fish.
Sounds simple but it will take time, work, patiance and did I mention time.
I have been working on a well though out plan to help reduce the problems. I will use either black sand or crushed coral for substrate, I still have plenty of lr, and still have a bunch of leftover pieces to put most of it together. I will get all new filters for my RODI unit and all new test kits.
I will be using reef crystals, always had good luck with it.
I will get some pics up before to long, just the start.

Minor change in plans, I will be using a 47 gal tower style tank. I scored a good deal on some mh lights and will pick up a couple T5's for atinic. I have a skimmer and HOB fuge. I also have aprox 100 LBS of LR. I know I will not need that much but I plan on using the peices I like the best then storing the rest.
I do have a question about the lighting, It is a dual ballast and I am wondering if I can run just one light or if I need to run both?
Thank You, Shaun

My first "new" fish. An adult female maroon clown.
