i have a new 125 gal fish-only tank cycling soon and am looking to select a skimmer.

if i go inside sump, space is tight (approx 8"x10"x17.5").

of the skimmers that tunze makes, is the 9011 the right choice for this setup?

also, there is an extension kit included. wasnt clear what functionality that provides and if i will need it inside my sump. if i do, what is the total footprint (skimmer+extension)?

thanks,
chandan

The 9410 would be the best bang for the buck, it is more powerful. It needs a space of 7 * 10 * 16.5. You really need about 21" in height for either one to comfortably remove the cup. The 9011 needs a space of 5 * 7 * 16.8" with the sump kit that is included. If you don't have at least 21" in height to remove the cup you may be better off with a 9011 in the tank.

clearance to remove the lid is not an issue in my cabinet.

can you please tell me the diameter of the lid on the 9410?

Having played with one back when they were released I can attest for the power of the 9410 over the 9011. For it's size it packs alot of punch.

They both use the same cup, the issue is that the cup has a neck that is about 3" long that must be pulled up out of the skimmer to be removed. The lid of the skimmer cup is 6.25" in diameter and the cup is 6" in diameter.
