The trachaphyllias in my tank for some reason have been staing closed. Primarily just the green ones and not so much the red ones. I have reduced the photo period to 3 hours a day but they were fin when they were on for 6 hours (just trying anything). All the water permatiers look decent for the most part. Any suggestions?

Have any pics? is anything in the tank messing with them, like shrimp, crabs or fish?

What kind of fish do you have? Mine were closed when I had a flame angel and again when I got a blue hippo tang. They were picking at it. I removed both fish and the brains look fine now, fully expanded. Hermits will walk on them too and cause them to close.

No hermits and no fish picking at them. However I think I may have found the source of some maybe all of the problem. Stray current. I think I have it narrowed down to my return pump which is submersable. I stick my fingers in the tank an can feel an electrical shock. I unplug the the pump... it is gone. What are the chances you think this could be it?

Probably 100%
Yup I would agree; observed LPS Monday in my tank close up when a powerhead shorted out.
