Reef safe, with the exception of ornamental crustaceans (as mentioned). However, these fish require a lot of open sandy area, and usually do best in dedicated setups.

They tend to rub their rostrums against the tank walls, esp at first, so peeps who keep them use about 6" of dark paper around the lower portion of the tank.

They really aren't a "Oh, cool fish...I think I'll pop one into my reef" type of critter.

that thing looks like it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down!http://www.ryanphotographic.com/images/JPEGS/Ogcocephalus%20nasutus%20Shortnose%20batfish%20Belize%20whole%20fish%20three%20quarters%20copy.jpg

Very nice, but I think they are too slow to keep up with the other fishes in a reef tank, they would starve.

In my opinion best to keep with very docile fishes like seahorse, pipefish and alike. Even then competition for food might be too harsh...

I think it's a pretty cool fish. Is there one for sale online somewhere?
