Trying to build a Coast to Coast Overflow. The question I have is should this be glass or acrylic. It's going to be mounted on a glass 40 Breeder!

Either will work. I chose black acrylic on my 55. Its 3/16" with a bit of support in the middle. If I had to do it again, Id get 1/4" acrylic. Either way, glass or acrylic, use 1/4"

internal acrylic is okay... external it has to be glass no and if's or but's about it......
i just made a sick little 40 breeder for my good friend who put alot of time into his glass one and made the coast to coast to etc and it failed upon a leak test.....
this is a 40b with a external coast to coast beananimal style...;)

yup..... it's just takes all the varibles out of fish dissapearing, snails etc....
i could get away with a herbie and be fine the way i have designed my tanks for that reason alone...... i dont have any problem with surface skimming so i just roll with it.....;)

My coast to coast was done with acrylic

Yours appears to be on the inside. Using acrylic for an internal overflow may be doable but I would never recommend doing an acrylic external overflow box on a glass tank.

I would go with glass. I'm in the process of doing the same (albeit on a 20H). Use some RTV108, stick it in good, and then don't worry!
