is this overkill

I have a 75gl and I plan on keeping mostly sps. right now I have current usa nova pro extreme t-5 48'' but I want to upgrade to MH. Are these lights overkill MARISTAR 48" 2x250W HQI & 2x54W T5 Combo Fixture by Sunlight Supply or the 48" Current USA Outer Orbit 2x250W 10,000K HQI-MH w/ 4x54W T5 HO & 18 Lunar Lights. thanks for the help

I have the Current fixture (( 2*250 + 4*54 )) over my 75, and think it is great. Just have to acclimate new corals/anemones to the lights, otherwise they are fine.

Though, you will have a hard time finding the Current fixture -- they aren't making any of the Outer Orbits any more, so the Maristar fixture should work great.

They are nice, and you might be able to find some units used, but not going to be able to find a new one.

With those lights did u need a chiller

Nope, don't have a chiller when any of my 3 tanks -- all have 250's over them. A clip on fan or two over the sump is all that I need to keep the temps in check -- 78-83*

the new maristar 2 coming out has built in LED's, and twice the T5's
