Hello everyone, I want to get my tank running perfect. What chemicals or kit should I do all my water tests with?
Thanks,
John

I use the API master test kit (marine). It is about $30 or so and they test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH. Its a liquid test kit which I believe is more accurate than the standard strip test kit. It is more cost effective though =D.

I don't test for cal, iodine, and other trace elements because I believe that regular WC plus a good salt mix provides all I need. I am only keeping soft corals but they seem to be thriving.

If you are planning on running a reef tank, you'll want test kits for alkalinity, calcium and magnesium as well as the ones Peter mentioned. Salifert, API, LaMotte are some of the better test kits available.
