Does anyone have any feedback on these? I am tempted to try the 2 1300gph units for like 28 bucks shipped? Just wanted to know if anyone blew up their house or something terrible before I try em. thanks

I'm using two of them on a 50 gallon and the only draw back is that they use 3 suction cups which will fail eventually, but I'll probably just replace with magnets some day. Been using them for 3 months and I'm happy so far--particularly for the price.

Thanks! I saw the suction cups. I think I am going to try a pair. I am stuffing them behind my rockwork so I dont need the mounts anyways

I bought a pair of em last week - the 1380's. I have the Koralia 1400's too.I had to pull one out of my tank... too much flow. The one I kept is running fine. They are magnet only, not real strong magnets(but strong enough) and no rubber to insulate the glass. They hold ok and I can't hear them. The stream is narrower at the head and seems to have the stated volume. Nothing wrong with them...

It sounds like we're talking about different pumps. These are the ones I bought

these are the ones I was looking at. Yours have magnets(nice) but the price is a little higher. I dont really need the magnets but they would be nice to have. I wonder if they are the same pump?

I did a search on these a week ago and found an alarming trend toward voltage leaks in the aquarium. I'd definitely stay away from them and go with the koralias.

I saw that one. It said that each pump put out 3200 gph for a total of 6400gph!!! wow. I dont need anything that powerful for blowing behind my rocks but I wouldnt mind trying one for tank circulation. I actually looked a bit for a single pump unit with the same output but was only able to find the dual

I wonder if you could adapt the koralia magnets to fit these? I have 2 dead koralias(the reason I am shopping) I could steal the magnets off of if need be

Thats what I was worrying about.I,m no electrician but for whatever reason my1st impression is chineese made pumps probably dont have the same standards regarding voltage leakage ,grounding and what not.(worrysome).Not that koralias or any other pump for that matter dont leak voltage into the water. I was thinking on the koralia evolution 4's but they are alot more, just wondering if they are worth the extra$

Yeah, they had a huge recall on those, not worth it IMO.

stay away from them if you don't wanna get electricity shocked (I've experienced it myself). I had them for 2 years and they finally had voltage leaked into the tank and burned out. The ebay seller has changed its name in order to make sales of these units

Someone posted a link in my local club site, but I didn't bother saving it.
This kind of stuff happens alot w/ Chinese knock offs, cheaper glues, sealers, parts.
For the price of a real Koralia that is UL listed, I figure my livestock is worth the extra bucks.

The ul listed thing was what I was wondering about them. My original koralias only lasted about 2 years so that actually sounds ok on the longevity side of things, I just dont want to fry my fish.I should have bought some new koralias last week at marine depot when they were on sale, darn...

Funny to me is there alot of knock offs that sell on ebay and such as reef equipment, and when you get it there will be a sticker on there saying "not for saltwater aquariums"LOL
I guess that's their way of trying to escape liability issues...

I did a search and found them at pet mountain for 46.29 each with 6.99 shipping. marine depot price matched them and is shipping them monday.
"Not for saltwater" that is pretty funny. I think the ebay ones would prob do just fine and the price for them is almost unbelieveable. I would just rather play it safe for now.

Thanks everyone for all the input!!

These are the ones I bought. It says 800gph, not even close to it. Are the ones you people are buying really 1300gph. I mean a Little Giant 4MDQX-SC is only 1225gph. Or am I getting confused about something here.

those are the ones I was considering only in the 1300 gph. Are you saying yours doesnt seem like the 800 gph rating is being met?maybe its because the flow is wide like a vortec so it doesnt feel as strong.

REEEFMAN

Yes the flo is very wide. Maybe thats why doesn't seem so strong. They are extreamly quiet tho. And even is the flo rate is wide the price is great. Is there a way to make the flo more direct?

don't know...... you know that most (if not all) electrical motors come from china?
and who says that the real korralia's arn't made in china...... have to look on mine.
still, an interesting subject, I ordered one and i'll keep you posted.... good or bad.

^^ I'm not knocking China, or stuff made there, I mean most stuff is outsourced these days and alot of our/my stuff IS from there.
It's the KNOCKOFFS from China I don't dig.
From what I've been told they can squeeze out of liability issues much easier, so no big to cheap it out.
Often it's difficult to get any kind of warranty or replacement parts for the knockoffs, or even get ahold of them for CS.

Yeah, this is what I was wondering about. The parts bin is pretty much global for a lot(most) of manufacturers...many times a label is the only difference between products:spin2:

I also have the SunSun dual power head. I love it. If it burns out or leaks voltage, i would prolly just buy a new one and swap them out as they go bad.

davocean

^^ That was also on the recall list.
Replacing a cheap pump is no big to me either, but you do realize this can jack your livestock too don't you?

No worse than any other shotty heater. And i would say 99.9% of us have had more issues with electricity leaking from heaters than anything else, but we all still have stealth and ebo jagger heaters.
