Until i get my overflow and sump setup sometime this year i have to use my fluval 305. This hasnt been a big deal until recently when purchased 4 blue green chromis they are small enough to get sucked up the hose and seems like they have been taking turns lol every other day it seems i gotta open it up and net one out they are not getting hurt but i dont want it to keep happening. Any ideas on how to keep them from gewtting sucked in? i thought about cutting a piece of a filter pad to size would this work?

try wrapping a pantyhose piece around the intake basket

I'm not sure pantyhose might just hold them stuck there and then possibly get hurt/die.
It was either hydor or hagen, think hagen that had what they called quick clips, like a small canister shape clip on screen, that keeps them far away enough to not have strong suction.
We used them for nem protection, those or similar may work till you rid the canister.
