I am about to add 80lbs of live sand and 200 lbs of live rock into my 150 gallon tank to start my first cycle. Is it ok if I don't use my sump yet. I was planning on having only the flowing in the tank during the cycle process. (live sand, live rock, 2 or 3 powerheads, and heaters.) Can i start the cycle this way or do i need to have a light, sump and skimmer running as well?

anybody
The skimmer would be a help during the cycle and I'd also keep up with the water changes to make it as easy as possible for any life the rock and sand may have brought in.

When you use live sand and live rocks, your tank cycle instantly. You don't need to wait for a full cycle. Turn everything on but light for few days and you're good to go. But to be safe, add livestocks in there slowly. Good luck.
