So I have a lot of calcium build up on my 20 gallon SW make up tank. So my dad gave me this Muriatic acid cleaner a while back to remove some grout haze. So I was like great that will get rid of it and dumped it in. Well it got rid of the calcium build up, but I noticed a few bubbles like soapy. So I read the entire package and it says cleaners are added to help remove things. I rinsed the hell out of the tank. My question is should I still use the tank, heaters, and power head that was in the tank with the acid and cleaner. I feel it is rinsed well enough, but just wondering what others think. Thanks.

I have no idea on the acid but in the future use vinegar.

Muriatic acid can be a more effective cleaner than vinegar, but not good to have the other cleaners in there as well. I would guess that it is okay, but definitely would be good if you could list ingredients. JMO

I actually think it's ok but yeah wouldn't recommend to always do this.

Look up the MSDS sheet online. It will tell you everything that is in it.

Everything in there should be water soluble. So just rinse the heck out of it and I think you should be OK.

Ok that is what I thought, just wanted to be sure. It just says other cleaners. Did not say what it was. Also the muriatic acid worked very well for the job, but will not be doing this again. I will not let it get this bad in the future and use vinegar next time.

Every time I break down my skimmer or pumps I use Muriatic acid. Just rinse well, you'll be fine. I also dilute the acid about 50/50 with water and soak parts in it. Then rinse afterwards. Works really well, I guess I'll always use it, never had a problem. Just be careful cause it's nasty stuff on the skin and nose....
