Does Selcon need to be refrigerated? I don't see where it says to on the bottle, but it seems like it might need to be. Thanks.

I don't think so as it wasn't refrigerated in the store.

Just called the manufacturer American Marine. He said it does not need to be refridgerated and to keep it in a cool dry place away from light. Also, shelf life is only 6 months!!

Hope that helps. :wavehand:

Do you guys turn your skimmer off before feeding with Selcon? I noticed mine goes a little nuts which causes the water level to drop in my return chamber and my osmolator kicks on.

I shut my return pump and my skimmer off every time I feed for 20 min. The only thing I keep running are my powerheads.

I feed with selcon and keep my skimmer on, it kills the foam for a while but never makes it overflow.

I don't actually feed Selcon direct, I use it to enrich other foods. Either brine shrimp or soaking frozen foods in it. Selcon isn't a food, it's a supplement. And it's pretty fatty, so it should throw off a skimmer if you dose it direct. I don't know of any organism that would consume it directly anyway.

Yeah, I meant feeding food that's been soaked in Selcon :)

I know I don't have very many cooler or dryer places in my house than the refrigerator. . .so that's where I've always kept mine.
