I run a ASM G2 skimmer on my 90 and today when I went to change out the sock and clean it and just the drain hose was hitting my sump really hard my skimmer started going nuts, like overflowing had to dial all the way down and then after I put the sock back on i had to dial it all the way back up again with little no no skimmate. My question si what casues this? A rush of draining water as oppossed to a steady drain while the water is runnig through the media??

It happens to me to every time I change filter sock. Usually I keep my skimmer off for 2-3 hours. I have no idea why skimmer is doing it!

Mine does this too i am guessing it is the dust that is on the sock.

Mine did the same but only on my 65. These were socks that had been used and washed many times too. It has never had any impact on the skimmer in my 210, I'm sure the larger volume of water in the 210 system effectively neutralizes whatever the cause may be.
Just expect it when you change socks and adjust your skimmer accordingly (or other form of overflow prevention)

Mine does it too if I don't rinse them first. I just take them to the shower and give them a good rinse.

Could it be due to the increased flow from removing and cleaning the sock??

Most of the better skimmers are very sensitive to what chemistry or element changes-think if how it stops skimming when you add food. I always rinse the socks when new and haven't had that problem but would think that there is something on them causing the oversimming. I have a double set so when I want to pull the dirty ones I already have clean one to replace which i put in the washer with just bleach then soak in water/Seachem Prime overnight. Prime does not cause skimmers to overract. Please clarify if the socks you have this problem with are brand new or cleaned ones you are putting back in the sump.
