So yeah, I have a tank running now for 9 months and should have a good amount of pods since I don't have anything which would hunt them. Occasionally I see amphipod molts floating around the tank, so I know they are there, but I just cant spot them with my eye. I have a lot of porous marco rock, so they could be hiding well during the day. When I turn off the lights and then flash a flash light, I still dont see them..

Any surefire way of spotting pods? I dont have a fuge or sump FYI.

if you have fish you have something that hunts them.

but you should still have alot. they will look like very tiny dots on your glass. watch them for a whle and you should start to see them move around a little

The best time to see them is after lights out and no other lights on in the room.

Get a flashlight and if you cover it with a red gel or even shine it through a red piece of plastic, the light won't scare any of the night creatures.

Watch on the live rock and sand. Those little crawly things are your copepods. They look like sea monkeys like you raised when you were a kid... Ok, like I raised as a kid. :)

During the day, they are food so the night is when they come out to play.
