I plan on extending my PH probe cable by 10 feet or so, and I am going to use a BNC male to female extension cable. If have found them in both 50 ohm and 75 ohm configurations. Does anyone know which one would be better, or if it even makes a difference?

Since nobody has responded (and I sure don't know the answer) you might want to ping Neptune (support@neptunesys.com) and see what they say. Post the response back here - I'm curious myself.

Tagging along myself. I to would like to know.

I wonder if one of them is only beneficial if you use lab grade probes.

I took your advice and emailed Curt. Here is what he said:

"The impedance of the cable doesn't matter. Don't extend the cable too much and use proper BNC connectors as the signal is very high impedance and extremely small."

So will these work alright?

So will these work alright? I'd think so. But if that cable works, then this http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10221&cs_id=1022101&p_id=6920&seq=1&format=2 and this http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10430&cs_id=1043005&p_id=4128&seq=1&format=2 should work too, at a small fraction of the cost. Even RadioShack is half that price :hmm5:

Regardless, recalibration after extending the cable would be a good idea just in case the extra length does slightly impact the readings.

After you extend the cables, be vigilant in terms of potential interference due to the longer length. It would manifest itself in strange, sporadic, short-term false readings. If you experience that, there's ways to get around it or at least minimize the impact.

I'm going to order the monoprice cable and adapter. Has anyone tried this out? If so how did it go?

I use the one from marinedepot and it works great. I would go with the monoprice cable if i did it again.

Sweet, cable on order from monoprice :)

np. I also verified any general bnc barrel connector should work. I picked mine up from radioshack and have no problems.
