I have a fowler with a niger trigger picasso and a dog face puffer. Pretty sure I have ich in there. Can i hypo the whole tank without doing any damage the the rock? Any help would be great thanks.

also was wondering if seachem metroplex works?

You could. But I would use copper. To me that is the great advantage of a FOWLR, bar none. Copper is the most effective way of curing ich, and if you have no inverts, why do it any other way?

Just my 2 cents...

Eitehr treatment will kill off alot of life on te rock which could result in an ammonia spike. Having said that I did a 7 week hypo treatment on my 75g when it was a FOWLR and all of the fish were fine afterwards.

wouldnt copper pretty much ruin the rock? What is the procedure for hypo in a fowler?

It will only "ruin" the rock for keeping inverts. Otherwise, it will be fine.

So if i use copper what if later on i wanted to put the rock in a reef? would that be possible?

No, that I wouldn't do. It will always retain a little bit of copper.

This is probably true, but it is not as negative to corals or inverts as you think. Many people have cupramined their rock and several months after removing the cupramine from their system with carbon, cuprisorb, and/or poyfilter were able house both inverts and corals without a problem. Yes, the rock will likely have some copper locked up in it. However, the locked up copper should not be released into your system at a certain point unless your PH falls so low that all of your fish and corals would die anyway. Moreover, if it really bothers you, you can later treat the rock with acid which will remove the copper locked up in the rock.
