Are moon lights really necessary and what are the benifits of having them versus not having them??

they are not necessary they just look nice and able you to see in your tank after the lights are out. there is no proof that they induce spawning

There is real moon lighting in the ocean. It only makes sense to have it in the tank. It can also help certain fish see and not be stuck in complete darkness at night... But, there's also those who say certain corals get stressed from having moon lights when they should be in darker water when the lights are out.
