Ok my metal halide / t5h0 setup kinda caught on fire a little today. The wiring to the metal halide starting smoking and there was a small flame, luckily I happened to be right there and unplugged it. The wiring going into the unit is black. Also one of my t5's stopped working when I replaced it with new bulbs this year, I have 3 metal halides and 4 t5h0's for a 150 gallon tank that is 6 feet long.
I need to get something fast, should I consider LED? Should I consider fixing it, is this something that happens? I can't go days without light and I'm scared to turn it back on. What should I do? Is there any recommended already made LED lights that people are using that are cost effective? Thanks!

This is the only page that has good LED choices but I really am having a hard time for a 72 inch long tank: http://www.fish-street.com/led_lighting_1
Seeing as how all the LEDs seem to lead over $1000 for a 72" wide tank, what do you guys think of this setup: http://cgi.ebay.com/72-MH250W-HQI-AQUARIUM-LIGHTING-REEF-FIXTURE-PL-96W-/280572302925?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item415369964d It has fans which my current system does not, does this look good?_1[/url]

The metal halide part should be ok if replaced with decent bulbs, but the power compact part is crap. MH and T5's would be best.

Man if you got the coin go leds if you have to take your stuff to an electrician and get your stuff check out, might be the warning you take for granted then you come home to find rubble....faulty stuff tends to get worse if not diagnosed. Aqua illuminations power modules for you 5 to 6 for sps

I recently replaced my 250w metal halide with an Aqua Illumination Sol Module. When I removed my 250w mogul metal halide I discovered a large burned area in the top of my cabinet hood! I'm so thankful that I didn't experience a fire. And I'm thankful once again to have this outstanding AI Sol LED Module plus controller. You can adjust the blue and white LEDs separately in increments from 1-99. Because the AI Sol Module is so intense they advise that you be careful to not bleach your coral. I began at 50% white and blue and over the last month I've increased the light to 60%. My SPS and clam are totally happy - everything in my tank is happy. The other big plus is that my tank is now so much more stable. With these new LEDs my reef tank temp varies only 1 to 2 degrees during the day. When I was using metal halides I had a 6-7 degree temp swing - even with two small fans running continuously. And have I mentioned electricity savings? 72 watts compared with 250w - a huge decrease in power over a 10 hour day. Here's an excellent Advanced Aquarist Magazine review of the first edition of the AI LED Module. The AI Sol is the 2nd generation has been improved over the 1st. Here's the link:

PS - I found the best price on the Aqua Illumination Sol Module through Aqua Cave and they offer free shipping:
